Ned Boulting’s Bikeology
MTC’s Jonathan Marks developed the concept of harnessing the nation’s obsession with bicycles into a live entertainment show with Ned Boulting almost by default… after two successive near sell-out tours across the breadth of the UK including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it seems Bikeology is soon to become a new entry into the Oxford Dictionary.
Ned’s prodigious ability as a writer, author and broadcaster has seamlessly been extended into delivering a near 2-and-a-half-hour long show, where he takes an off-centre look at what it really means to ride a bike. Drawing on his own underwhelming adventures in the saddle to his 14 summers spent hurtling around France in pursuit of the cycling’s biggest names including Froome, Cavendish, and of course Armstrong.
The Bikeology 2016 inner tube challenge saw every theatre pit their champion against our own Stig, Sir Chris Hoy, and a feisty Chris Boardman for the fastest change and inflate in the UK followed by this year’s Bikeologist quiz which put an audience member’s cycling knowledge to the ultimate test.
The tours were sponsored by Exodus Travel, and a third stage for next year is currently being drawn up.
